WOOD GASIFIRE OVENS INDIA

The demand for firewood in India is far higher than the supply of sustainably renewable raw materials. Since time immemorial, people have used the forests as a source of firewood, fodder for animals, timber, etc. However, the sharp increase in population numbers is also increasing the pressure on the forests. In addition, the health effects of cooking over an open fire are extremely problematic. Since 2012, atmosfair has been subsidizing the sale of highly efficient wood gasifier stoves, which save 50% of firewood and enable smoke-free cooking. We were able to capture the project photographically and videographically for a professional website for the German non-profit organization.

BIOCHAR & REFORESTATION PROJECT NEPAL

This project produces biochar that makes the soil usable again, a thing of the pastthrough misusewas completely eroded and leached. The reforestation of the hill is made possible by atmosfair and the Ithaka Institute. The biochar is produced using an old production technique that was used thousands of years ago. The irrigation water is collected from the air using mist nets. Reforestation significantly reduces the risk of landslides and erosion. In addition, biodiversity and the local climate are improved.
